The growing involvement of the private sector in financing and developing solutions for transport and mobility, whether in infrastructure or services, requires knowledge and skills suited to addressing the various dimensions and perspectives of the delivery of such solutions.
Our experience
We have extensive experience in these areas, gained through approximately 40 projects with private sector investors, lenders, granting authorities and regulators. This experience covers projects in infrastructure (roads and motorways, car parks, airports, light and standard rail systems, both conventional and high speed) and service operation (operation and management contracts for airport, rail and road systems and car parking).
Our expertise covers demand and revenue forecasts, needs assessment for investments in capacity, advisory in optimisation proposals at the tendering phase, contract negotiation, concession refinancing, arbitration and setting up of economic or financial assessments.
Main areas of activity:
- Support for investors and tenderers in the concession phase in the process of defining the proposal
- Support for concessionaires/ ongoing projects: financial planning (traffic forecasts and revenue), arbitration, concession refinancing
- Support for the licensing authority in the process of granting concessions
- Support for the licensing authority in the process of renegotiating the terms of contract with concessionaires
- Support for lending banks in assessing risk levels associated with forecasts
Key projects:
- Concessions in Portugal: participation in studies for toll and shadow toll concessions, corresponding to around three dozen distinct advisory processes, in particular support in setting up the proposal, the forecasts updates for refinancing and support in negotiations
- International Concessions: assessing opportunities, and assistance in setting up proposals for road concessions in Mozambique, Cape Verde, Greece, Ireland, and consultation on current concession management in Brazil
- Railway Concessions: light rail systems, and conventional suburban/ regional systems
- Airport Concessions: two important main infrastructures in Mozambique and São Tomé
