Noise and vibration during construction are a critical concern for any major development because of the potential effect on nearby businesses and residents. Failure to adequately assess and put in place appropriate control measures can lead to a site being closed down until appropriate management is put in place. Assessment and management of site impacts can distract from the construction in hand. With extensive experience obtained working on some of the most significant construction projects in the UK, we have the capability and competence to assess, manage and monitor noise and vibration impacts so you can focus on construction.

Assessments are generally conducted in accordance with BS5228 (or other appropriate standard) and use computer modelling techniques. Working closely with your construction team, Best Practicable Means (BPM) are developed which, presented through a Noise and Vibration Management Plan, may include working practices, mitigation and monitoring. Airborne and groundborne noise and vibration impacts can be assessed.

It may be appropriate to apply to the Local Authority for consent for the works under Section 61 of the Control of Pollution Act (CoPA).  Providing operations are in accordance with the s61 consent, site activity is exempt from a stop notice under s60 of CoPA.
