Contraband Netting Services

An effective mesh that provides a discreet and impenetrable barrier that protects the premises from drugs and contraband landing inside sensitive areas. The use of the nanoShell Drugnet system is one of the most effective and long lasting ways of proofing exercise yards and other areas against the influx of drugs and contraband to the inside areas of prisons. The smaller Drugnet system consists of a 3mm stainless steel perimeter straining cable, which is supported normally by stainless steel fixings drilled into the structure at regular centers. The cable is tensioned using a high quality grade 316 stainless steel M8 barrel strainers and the net securely attached to it by stainless steel hog rings.

Heavy-duty M6 and M8 stainless steel netbolts are used in the corners or where points of abnormal stress occur. Intermediate fixings generally consist of 50mm stainless steel split pins inserted into 50mm nylon anchor rivets, or a HiltiHA8 zinc plated metal hanger on larger netting systems. Where we are fixing into cladding systems we are able to use a 25mm x 25mm right-angled passivated bracket or a 40mm x 40mm plastic injection moulded base to avoid penetrating the surface material.

With larger systems the specification can be increased by 10mm - 12mm cables and M12 and M14 fixings to support the increased stresses and weight of the system. Stainless steel brackets are bespoke manufactured to any design to ensure the Drugnet is installed effectively, poles may be used to support large span systems using galvanised poles manufactures to home office specifications up to 9m`s in height and are smooth in construction for security purposes.

The netting is constructed from high density ultra-violet stabilised knotted 12/6 polyethylene that is chemically inert and rot proof in addition to offering a high resistance to a wide range of chemical and environmental conditions. The result is a high quality tensioned Drugnet sealing the perimeter area and preventing gaps appearing. Drugnet is available in two mesh sizes and various colours depending on the physical surroundings and particular type of contraband been thrown into the prison and is fire retarded minimise fire damage.

Frost Resistant Anti Drug Net
50mm and 19mm knotted polyethylene net made with UV stabilised, flame retarded 12/6 twine that does not absorb water and is chemically inert. It includes red strand to clearly distinguish it from other nets when bundled but when correctly installed this identifier is virtually invisible. Drugnet meets performance specification BS5867.

Straining Wire
Minimum of 2/3mm 7x7 grade 316 stainless steel core filament wire rope.

Masonry Fixings
Minimum of M8 eyebolts constructed from 316 (marine grade) stainless steel, complete with expansion shield and nut.

Split Pins
50mm long nylon plugs used in conjunction with 50mm 316 grade stainless steel split pins.

Barrel Tensioners
Minimum M8 316 grade stainless steel.
