Cultural Resource Services
WestLand`s team of archaeologists provides consulting services for cultural resource management; our specialists conduct archaeological surveys (Class I through III), cultural resource evaluations, monitoring, archaeological testing, and data recovery for a variety of clients throughout the Southwest. WestLand`s staff is well versed in city, state, and federal procedures and policies, including those specific to Pima County. Over the past four years, WestLand has completed hundreds of archaeological assignments including testing and data recovery projects.
WestLand`s Cultural Resources Group is comprised of 8 full time staff members including two principal investigators, a dedicated laboratory supervisor, and historic archaeologists. The staff is augmented by a pool of 10 long-term temporary employees who work both in the field and the laboratory. WestLand also teams with architectural historians to provide the full range of historic preservation services and subcontracts our archeomagnetic dating specialists to a number of other cultural resources firms. WestLand`s director of cultural resources works closely with the project proponent to find the most efficient and cost effective approaches to assist the client in navigating the local, state, and federal cultural resources regulations.

WestLand maintains a secure, climate-controlled archaeological laboratory with all the necessary equipment to complete the analysis on large scale data recovery projects. All artifact and project information is maintained in an Access-based data base that is compatible with the Arizona State Museum. The Cultural Resources Group uses state of the art electronic survey equipment in the field and is supported by two GIP specialists trained in archaeology.
