GES’ environmental informatics (EI) group provides leading-edge services for the analysis, modeling, and visualization of complex subsurface hydrogeological issues. The science of environmental informatics incorporates GIS, dynamic-simulation modeling and statistics, and other analytical and computer-based methods in the study and management of environmental data. GES uses its environmental informatics capabilities for comprehensive data management and reporting, data-driven GIS mapping applications, and data validation for application at exploration & production, refining, manufacturing, and power generation facilities. Projects include shale-gas well sampling initiatives; many emergency response actions; and environmental data management for the largest active refinery in the Western Hemisphere. Data management services support technically-sound business decisions.
GES’ EI professionals have developed a variety of proprietary analytical and numerical models; they are well known as the authors of the API LNAPL Interactive Guide, an electronic information system to provide better understanding and tools for risk evaluation and conceptual site model development of petroleum-impacted sites.
