With an ever-increasing awareness of privacy issues surrounding personal and business information customers are becoming more concerned about how their material is handled. They are seeking assurances that their confidential and proprietary information is protected, and rightly so. Information security is extremely important to businesses as their continued existence is dependent upon their confidential data and intellectual property - proprietary processes, designs, patents, etc. – remainingconfidential.
Almost all electronic devices, large or small, are capable of storing data. Information security regulations such as HIPAA, HITECH, Sarbanes-Oxley, Gramm-Leach Bliley, FISMA and FACTA hold companies responsible for protecting employee and customer information, with serious legal and monetary consequences for a security breach. Because TCG takes the security of your information seriously we use erasure tools that securely erase all data written to any data-containing storage devices. The benefit of these tools is that they meet NIST 800:88 “purge and clear” specifications, exceeding the requirements of the old DOD standard, while still allowing redeployment of hard drives if a customer chooses remarketing to maximize value.
After performing the requisite wiping functions - prequalification, test, repair and wipe - the system generates certificate files for verification of erasure and generates a report detailing pass/fail. All hard drives failing the erasure process will be physically destroyed. We also offer degaussing as a method of destroying information on various types of magnetic storage media.
Our information destruction department is segregated by access-controlled entry points limited to specific employees with secure entry by HID badge or biometrics. All media retained for data erasure is stored in separate bins by customer order number. This area is under 24-hr video surveillance with the archive video retained for a rolling 3 month period.
A Certificate of Information Destruction will be provided upon request.
On-Site Services
Many clients prefer to be present when their data-containing media is destroyed, but it’s not always feasible for them to travel to our facilities due to time or budgetary constraints. For this reason TCG offers on-site data destruction within the confines of the customer’s property using a self-contained shredding unit. This not only eliminates chain-of-custody concerns but since the entire process is recorded the client is presented with a DVD containing a video of the destruction of the material, giving them peace of mind.
An on-board database allows the capture of serial numbers (if required), as well as quantity and/or weight for non-serialized material. As with all of TCG’s e-scrap destruction services, a Certificate of Destruction will be provided upon request.
Value-Add
TCG can further assist customers with onsite solutions including, but not limited to, de-installations, data erasure, hard drive and media verification, and serial number capture.
