Design and Construction of Side Channel Creation Services
Side channels–optimum habitat for salmon and steelhead during high-flow–were disconnected from the Clackamas River beginning in the early 20th century as a result of the channel becoming heavily incised. Two of the largest contributing factors were a new floodplain gravel mine and an upstream dam.

In an effort to address these factors and return salmon habitat to the area, we designed and provided construction oversight for three new side channels along the Clackamas River, totaling 4,400 feet. This project became one of the largest off-channel, salmon-rearing habitat efforts ever completed in the Pacific Northwest.
