Ecology
From Deltas, Coasts and Rivers
Ecology studies interaction between organisms, populations and communities on the one hand and the relationship with the non-biological environment and man on the other. At several levels ecology plays an important role in a society where technical and spatial developments are occurring all the time. Awareness that we must treat our natural environment responsibly has already been firmly embedded in legislation. However, the protection and strengthening of nature values does not mean there is no more space for other developments. The secret is to arrange and embed human activities in a way that avoids harming and perhaps even improves ecological functioning.

Witteveen+Bos adopts a systematic approach by identifying abiotic processes (soil, water and air) and relating them to the occurrence of animal and plant species and habitats. We are able to use an advanced set of instruments including hydrological and ecological models. As knowledge in this field is evolving all the time, we cooperate a lot with universities and knowledge institutes, enabling us to avail of state-of-the-art knowledge that we translate into recommendations usable in practice. This approach allows us to formulate an optimum recommendation for every situation. Some examples of relevant products are:
