Energy Design Reviews
Start off on the right foot with an Energy Design Review to ensure your new building or retrofit is efficient from Day One. We will work alongside your design team to ensure the design of the project incorporates the most energy efficient options and solutions. Design audits pick up recurring mistakes made in the building/engineering industry. By way of example, many designs will look at the efficiency of individual plant or products, but this does not necessarily take into account the operational efficiency of the building when it is fully occupied and working as a system.
Our practical experience with re-commissioning and upgrading existing buildings, helps provide full circle information on what works and what doesn’t in real life.
The Energy Design Review provides you with an opportunity to rectify or mitigate issues before implementation is commenced.
The Energy Design Review will focus on all areas of your building including:
- Metering and Sub-metering
- Lighting controls
- Effective efficient luminaires
- BMS controls
- Mechanical Systems/Components/Design
- VSD’s pumps & motors
- CO2 monitoring/ventilation
- Humidity control
At ECOsystems our focus is on practical solutions. Our Energy Design Reviews will provide specific outcomes within each area investigated through:
- Identification of issues/concerns – this will primarily focus on energy efficiency, however, where appropriate we may also identify issues affecting building comfort levels, maintenance and operation
- Highlighting implications of not addressing the issues – we will provide indicative cost bands or an indication of percentage savings. As part of a wider environmental assessment, we can also highlight any greenhouse gas implications
- Recommendation of alternative solutions – we don’t just identify problems. For any area of concern we will suggest an alternative solution
- Outline of benefits – for any alternative solution recommended (commonly referred to as an energy conservation measure or “ECM”), we will outline the benefits of the alternative over the current design. While the high level nature of the Design Review does not enable detailed costing of ECMs to be completed, we will as far as practicable identify possible costs and savings of the ECMs
