Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001, EMAS) and Environmental Audit Services
An environmental management system is one of the tools enabling the entrepreneurs to increase competitiveness both in Latvian and foreign markets, and to demonstrate business’ compliance with laws and regulations. It also demonstrates progress towards continuous performance in the field of environmental protection and the rational use of natural resources.
Consultants of ELLE provide assistance to companies in developing environmental management systems according to the requirements of ISO 14001 standard or the European Union Environmental management and auditing scheme (EMAS), and in creating Integrated Quality and Environmental Management System. Clients are also supported in implementation of individual environmental system elements, such as drawing up environmental reports, training of staff and handling an internal audit.
Since 1999, ELLE has been co-operating with Bureau Veritas Certification – a global leader in certification services. Experts of the company are trained in IRCA registered environmental management system auditing and have carried out more than 100 audits within different companies in Latvia.
While attracting an investment, planning an expansion of industrial production, or purchasing of property connected to industrial production or to the potential historical pollution, it is important to audit the environmental condition of the property by conducting environmental compliance or environmental due diligence (EDD) audit. This allows timely detection of potential environmental pollution, including historical pollution and key environmental problems, as well as ensuring conformity with legislative requirements. The ELLE consultants have carried out more than fifty compliance audits for industrial facilities and real estates in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia using both – criteria established by ELLE, and methodical guidelines introduced by international financial institutions.
