Environmental Policy
Environmental policy is undergoing change. More attention has to be devoted to the relationship with spatial planning (under the Dutch Spatial Planning Act) and mobility. The upshot is an obligation to satisfy tougher environmental quality and spatial planning requirements when developing areas. The new Spatial Planning Act has opened up opportunities for environmental policy built upon an area-dedicated approach to environmental and spatial qualities. Environmental policy adds value provided that goals are formulated concretely and tangibly. From case to case it is essential to be clear about how decisions will be reached.
This kind of working method requires a lot of attention to communicating with policymakers in other fields, with administrators (dualism) and with external partners. We build into our projects some milestones for communicating with all these parties. One of the central goals is to attain a good balance between attention to the process and the content of the work.
