High Load Escorts
Transporting high loads through the city requires careful planning and safety precautions because of overhead power lines. EPCOR is authorized to provide High Load Escorts in the City of Edmonton when the potential exists for a transported load to come in contact with overhead power lines. EPCOR is able to assist transporters by planning a route through the Capital Region and providing the necessary support to ensure that high loads arrive at their destination safely and on time.
Hydrovac Excavation
EPCOR operates a fleet of hydrovac trucks used for excavation, pipeline day lighting, and fibre optic cable installations in existing manhole ducts. Our highly skilled hydrovac operators have extensive experience working around sensitive utility and pipeline infrastructure, and boast an impressive safety record. Cathodic Protection
A successful cathodic protection program can help water utilities significantly increase the lifespan of their assets and reduce annual maintenance costs due to corrosion-based failures. EPCOR is currently responsible for the annual installation of over 800 anodes for cathodic protection in the City of Edmonton.
Cathodic protection is used to reduce the rate that underground assets corrode when they are exposed to the elements. This is extremely important in the downtown core where the majority of water mains are made of cast iron.
