For example, we are often asked to identify the impact associated with the recent spillage of fuel oils, differentiating recent and historic contamination. Using the same interpretative skills we can easily differentiate different fuel types such as kerosene, diesel and engine oils which can assist in the confirmation of contaminant sources and ownership of contamination.
