Glycine is a white crystalline powder that is very soluble in water, slightly soluble in acetone, and insoluble in ethanol and ethyl ether. It is the simplest (and the only achiral) proteinogenic amino acid with the chemical name aminoacetic acid. Currently, glycine is used in medicine as a raw material for the synthesis of chlortetracycline buffer, anti-Parxinsen disease drug L-dopa, vitamin B6, threonine and so on. It is also used as an amino acid nutritional infusion.
