Investigations groundwater monitoring in short, has roughly two reasons: early warning of the emergence of soil (for example at petrol stations, oil-gas separator); determining the degree of the spread of an existing pollution (for example, a groundwater contamination with chlorinated hydrocarbons). Is usually chosen for an annual sampling of groundwater as a form of monitoring. The government may be required by monitoring, but companies or individuals may also decide to monitoring.

Study Design
In general, in groundwater monitoring to identify the following parts ::
- sampling one or several existing wells. The wells are often the site of known or suspected sites situated around an existing pollution;
- laboratory research;
- review of analytical results;
- preparation of a report with clear conclusions and recommendations.
