Groundwater Purification Services

SHARE

Contain leaking groundwater dewatering during construction projects or renovation to include must meet certain quality requirements for discharged into drains or open water. If the parameter contains levels above the discharge requirement, for example fuel, solvents or metal, it is necessary purification. These quality (discharge requirements) are determined by the Water Board, Water Board and Water Board.

In the field of groundwater treatment plants PJ Milieu BV has developed since 1990 as one of the leading companies in the Netherlands. The development that have been made in this area are mainly due to the fact that water treatment plants, in close cooperation with Pijpers Bronbemalingen BV, are built in-house and developed.

PJ Milieu BV is particularly specialized in purifying water locally in groundwater remediation projects and the removal of iron from groundwater during construction projects. In recent years, specialized knowledge has been gained with respect to anaerobic degradation of chlorinated hydrocarbons in combination with an anaerobic purification and soil energy systems. The knowledge in the field of dewatering, soil and combining biodegradability with each other can be assembled properly groundwater treatment for each pollutant.

PJ Milieu BV defines itself as a "green" company. This is also reflected in the ground water treatment plants. These are fault-free and very quiet, have a high efficiency and built quickly and efficiently. We also use solar energy installations.

To our disposal includes the following high quality facilities:

  • bronnerings- and vacuum pumps;
  • oil / petrol separators with a sand trap and koalescentiefilters;
  • biological groundwater treatment plants;
  • aerators;
  • tower strippers;
  • charcoal filters (air and water);
  • sand filters;
  • combi-cleaning;
  • luchtextractie- injection and blowers;
  • in-situ containers;
  • deferrization;
  • anaerobic soil treatment plants.

Below are some examples of the most leased facilities:

Combination treatment
The combination treatment was designed and built in-house. The purification is a single unit and is equipped with a sand trap, oil / gas separator with koalescentiefilter, buffer with pump, tower stripper with recirculation, a bio-filter and an effluent buffer. The purification is easy to install and within 1 hour operational. The maximum capacity of purification is 80 m³ / h.

Biological treatment
Biological treatment has enormous advantages. The biggest advantage is the very high efficiency. The small size and the absence of residual products (eg. Separate oil) are very pleasant advantages. For optimal efficiency must be taken into account with a maximum flow rate of 10 m³ / h per compartment. The biological treatment plants are equipped with a bio-filter.

Active carbon and sand filters
by means of physical adsorption are removed in the active carbon filter impurities of organic nature from the water.The carbon filters can be used as the main treatment or as a polishing step. The operation of active carbon should be protected against the presence of suspended solids and iron. A purification using aeration followed by sand filtration is therefore often necessary. The carbon and sand filters have a maximum capacity of 38 m³ / h / filter.

Anaerobic treatment
Much knowledge is available about the anaerobic degradation of chlorinated hydrocarbons. Contaminated groundwater is purified in an anaerobic reactor wherein dosage of a carbon source and infiltration of effluent takes place. The anaerobic biodegradation is well combined with the use of energy storage systems where (residual) heat to the bottom comes and cold (cooling) for the actual building. The sizing of systems is based mainly on the building design and the installation concept with ancillary (financial) benefit that a remediation is performed.

MTBE purification
Lead in gasoline is replaced since the eighties by the environmentally friendly methyl butyl ether (MTBE). This substance can be, inter alia, by leaking and spillage of the storage tanks at gasoline service station-locations are in the ground. And by the good solubility in water move through the soil into groundwater. PJ Milieu BV has experience in the rehabilitation of gas station sites contaminated with MTBE. These locations Herentals where the groundwater is purified with two strippers. As a test, there is a biological purification built into the system, which revealed that MTBE contaminated groundwater is biodegradable, so that biological water treatment plants can be used in soil remediation projects. It has been found that the degradation via tert-butyl alcohol, and good full expires. Now it appears that MTBE is readily biodegradable, may groundwater remediation in the future be carried out considerably cheaper.

The cost of a ground water purification, among other things be dependent on the nature and degree of pollution, the discharge requirements, and the flow rate. For each project, a specific groundwater treatment formulated so that efficiency is optimized and costs are minimized.
