About the service

Our service draws on a wide range of specialist containers and collection options, and utilising our own network of purpose-built chemical treatment plants, and transfer stations.

Small volume containerised or packaged hazardous waste

For small volumes of mixed hazardous waste Biffa can provide the Waste-Safe Mini for safe storage and collection of up to 30kgs* of waste, suitable for offices or small workshops (*restrictions apply to applicable wastes.)

For single streams of waste, Biffa provide a range of suitable UN approved containers.

Large volumes containerised or packaged hazardous waste

For larger volumes of Hazardous Waste Biffa has developed the unique Waste-Safe range of Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBC`s) for liquid and solid wastes. Robust, lockable, stackable and as easy to move as a pallet, available in 800ltrs or 1000ltrs or vented for aerosols.

Biffa can also collect Hazardous waste in customers` own suitable containers or packaging by agreement, where containers are also intended for disposal.

Bulk Liquid

Biffa can collect and chemically treat or recover both hazardous and non-hazardous bulk liquid waste. The waste is collected by a fleet of specialist tankers from tanks, IBC`s (intermediate bulk containers), barrels, bunds and other suitable vessels with appropriate access.

The collection and treatment process is tailored to your needs and the specific requirements of the waste.

Hazpack

Through our Hazpack service a qualified Biffa Chemist will visit your premises to:-

  • Identify and sort waste streams
  • Re-pack waste for transportation in line with all applicable legislation
  • Label packed waste in line with all applicable legislation
  • Arrange collection

Additional services

Biffa can also register your site as a hazardous waste producer if you are legally required to.

  • Services ensures compliance with all aspects of transport legislation, Duty of Care, the Environmental Protection Act and Hazardous Waste Regulations
  • All vehicles and staff involved in collection services will comply with ADR regulations (European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road)
  • Biffa can collect from any suitable vessel with appropriate access
  • Waste is taken to a suitably licensed facility for processing or pre-processing and then to and end disposal point where applicable
  • Wastes are processed and treated to maximise recycling, recovery and the use of waste to generate energy
