TRAXX - Hydraulic Bolt Tightening Service for Aerospace Test Structures

TRAXX provides specialized bolt tightening services tailored for complex aerospace testing structures. In a recent project, they engaged with Latécoère-Services at SAFRAN Aircraft Engines' flight test center in Istres. The facility, designed to evaluate new propeller and turbofan engine performance across over 1200 parameters, demands robust support to manage considerable stress induced by its operational loads. To meet these requirements, TRAXX engineers executed a precise, hydraulically controlled tightening on 200 threaded rods, M36 and M42, each tensioned to over 700 kN. These operations account for variables like temperature fluctuations and challenging access to certain rods, ensuring that homogeneous tension is achieved throughout the structure. This controlled tensioning significantly reduces the risk of future structural failures. Additionally, the methodology allows for ongoing monitoring of assembly integrity over the years, offering a reliable foresight into future maintenance needs.
