Industrial Hygiene Services
During work, employee gets exposed to different types of Health Hazards. Protecting employees from adverse health effects due to chemical, biological and physical health hazards becomes very much important business as it is directly related to productivity, regulatory compliance & health of people.
Workplace Monitoring (Chemical Exposure and Risk Assessment)
- Exposure assessments are used to determine the adequacy of engineering controls and work practices along with selection of the least hazardous materials that meet performance needs.
- Both qualitative and quantitative methods are used. Qualitative methods alone are often sufficient without actual exposure measurements, based on contaminant characteristics, controls, proximity and duration of potential exposure.
- Air monitoring and other environmental sampling are conducted using NIOSH and OSHA methods when available, other methods as necessary.
Ergonomics Study
- There are many occassions when employees do not work as per the best methods. If they are coupled with poor machine design, tool, and workplace design or the use of improper tools—create physical stress on workers’ bodies, which can lead to injury.
- Our Ergonomics Program is dedicated to the integration of sound ergonomic principles with practical, cost-effective solutions, for maximum productivity gains in industry.
Illumination Survey
- It is a method adopted to evaluate the technical performance or evaluating the efficiency of the existing lightning fixtures installed in the workplace and to compare it with the existing standards. Its purpose is to reduce the eye related problems and accidents by providing better illumination at the workplace during the work activities.
- We carry out it as per the Indian Standard for Illumination level IS 6665, IS 3646 & Factories Act, 1948
Noise Monitoring & Mapping
- The objective of the program is to identify and control noise hazards and protect all employees who have a potential to develop noise induced hearing loss.
- Sound Level Meter (SLM) is the instrument used for noise measurement.
Health Hygiene & Safety Audit
- The industrial hygiene team provides facility audits to assess compliance with International (OSHA) and employer standards.
- Written programs, work practices, record keeping, employee behavior and work environments are evaluated to assess program status.
- Hazard assessments are provided to identify and measure risks to aid in resource allocation proportional to the hazard. Assessments can vary in depth and scope, depending on site– Whole Body Vibration and Hand Arm Vibration.
Vibration Survey
- Vibrations are of two types – Whole Body Vibration and Hand Arm Vibration.
- Effect on human body is due to frequency, amplitude and duration of exposure.
- Effects of vibration are feeling of displacement, giddiness, sickness, vibration disease and sometime fatal.
- GCCIPL carry out Vibration survey for machine Vibration & for Health effects on human body.
Ventilation Survey
- A Ventilation Survey is an organized procedure of acquiring data that quantify the distributions of airflow, pressure and air quality.
- GCI carry out Ventilation Survey as per ASHRAE 2004.
Indoor Air Quality
- Office occupants frequently complain of general symptoms potentially related to indoor air quality that include headache, fatigue, dryness and nausea. These discomfort symptoms may relate to inadequate fresh air, but could also stem from personal health conditions or stress.
- Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) assessments assist companies in identifying true building-related air quality problems and resolution.
- These surveys are a specialized type of Industrial Hygiene survey, and can be performed in offices, other non-industrial occupancies and industrial settings.
- GCI carry out Indoor Air Quality Monitoring with determination of indoor pollutants such as airborne microorganisms, particulate matter, VOC´s, formaldehyde and others.
