SOLDATA is a world leader in the measurement of settlement/heave using satellite radar interferometry for construction and the protection of existing infrastructure. The new generation of satellites allow non-linear vertical displacements to be identified with a with a typical precision of 1 mm/year on trends and 3 mm on each measurement in time. The large images cover kilometres in length and breadth and therefore allow large scale monitoring to be undertaken without the degradation of the precision due to distance associated with ‘on the ground’ techniques. This remote technique lends itself to initial identification of vertical movements, the identification of long term trends and the independent checks on classical settlement monitoring. Using tools such as Google Earth interface, this technology also helps to communicate complex technical information to owners and 3rd party stakeholders in a clear and unambiguous manner.
