Introduction & History of Service Tech Cooling Towers

Kelly Boyd was working for a cooling tower manufacturer and during his tenure with this company, he became a maintenance superintendent and ran new concrete cooling tower projects. In the fall of 2000, he saw the need for a quality service company to assist clients with ongoing operation and maintenance issues with their cooling process.

Using his knowledge base and work ethic, he formed Service Tech and contracted with several Fortune 500 companies to service their existing cooling towers. Service Tech specializes in cooling tower repair, rebuilding, maintenance and performance upgrades. During the first ten years of Service Tech, he began talking with colleagues about the need for an industrial concrete cooling tower. A tower that would utilize the performance upgrades sold in the aftermarket as original equipment.

Randy Oberlag, P.E., was the person Kelly had in mind for the structural engineer. Kelly and Randy worked together at a previous company building concrete cooling towers together. Randy received an award from the Concrete Tilt Up Association for his previous concrete cooling tower construction designs.

Mr. Boyd started ST Cooling Towers in January of 2009 as the marketing and engineering arm of Service Tech. The goal was to bring to the market an industrial concrete cooling tower, the STCT Concrete Series cooling tower line, with the benefits of low maintenance concrete, high performance internal components and the most energy efficient motor and drive systems available on the market. Not to mention, that the ST Cooling Towers` design has features built in that are already maintenance friendly because it was designed to be user friendly.

The two companies have now been streamlined into one entity: Service Tech Cooling Towers (STCT). STCT now includes a New Tower Division. Anything from a small rooftop package tower, to a multi-cell, 150,000 gpm tower is available. With experience in building concrete cooling towers in North and South America, and licensing technology to partners in Europe, Africa and Asia, Service Tech Cooling Towers has the logistical capability to coordinate your next international project.
