International and Research Projects
Outside the standard engineering and consulting services, the company CityPlan is on a long-term basis actively involved in solving tasks of science and research through a variety of national programmes to support research activities. The amount of projects processed in the field of basic and applied research reaches already four tens, which ranks the company among the most important research organisations in the relevant sectors.
Projects of science and research (details on their scope and results are listed in the section "References") have been processed for a variety of national institutions, including in particular:
- Grant Agency of the Czech Republic
- Technology Agency of the Czech Republic
- Ministry of Transport (formerly Ministry of Transport and Connections) of the Czech Republic
- Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic
- Ministry of Local Development of the Czech Republic
- Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic
- Ministry of Environment of the Czech Republic
The company CityPlan has also been for many years successfully engaged in international cooperation on research and development projects funded by the European Union through Structural Funds and other programmes. This includes in particular the following:
- Operational programme the Transnational Cooperation in Central Europe
- Interreg III and IV
- 7th Framework Programme
- Specific grant programmes of the European Commission
Themes of the research and international projects cover wide range of disciplines corresponding with expertise of the company. These are mostly tasks of applied research and development projects aimed at:
- analyses of development of the transport infrastructure in Central Europe
- support of multimodal freight transport
- innovation in logistics
- increasing safety of road infrastructure
- protection of the critical infrastructure and crisis management
- development of sustainable transport in cities
- optimisation of proposed elements of the infrastructure by means of transport modeling
- problems of rational use of energy
- potential of low-energy and passive houses
- development of alternative sources of energy
