Our scientific laboratory hosts an eco-toxicology section that performs the legal tests required by Italian legislation. The main task of an eco-toxicology investigation is to predict the lifecycle of different substances in the environment, defining whether they will settle in the water/air/ground, for how long, etc. Moreover, this test is capable of determining the toxicity level in the short, medium and long term (acute and chronic tests) using organisms which are specific for every different environment. Moreover, they indicate the substance’s concentration level that determines a 50% mortality level (LC 50). This information is provided in order to evaluate concretely the effective environmental harm.
