The recognised standard for undertaking this work is BS 6700 alongside any additional requirements of certain water authorities.
If these standards are not met, the local water board have the right to refuse the final connection of the water system to the mains water supply. This is to prevent any possible contamination from the water system feeding back and contaminating the mains water supply.
