Having the equipment in place to recover the oil is only part of the challenge in oil spill response. You must have the ability to locate the oil and the thickest recoverable portions of the slick in order to effectively skim and recover. MSRC’s Responder Class OSRVs nationwide are equipped with state of the art X-Band and Infrared technology to help the vessel’s Master find the oil and position the skimming units into the thickest part of the slick.

MSRC also maintains a variety of other assets appropriate for shallow water operating environments. For example, MSRC can deploy 5 Fast Response Vessels (FRVs) and 68 fully-equipped shallow water barges to skim and collect oil from spills on coastlines and mid-continent rivers.
