Mercury Decontamination
Mercury, if present as a component of hydrocarbon process streams, accumulates in equipment by reaction with surfaces and dissolution in sludge.When contaminated equipment is opened for cleaning or inspection, mercury vapor is emitted which is problematic for work activities. Sludge that accumulates in separators and process vessels and that contains mercury requires special handling. CR Asia has experienced work teams and specialized equipment to decontaminate piping and equipment and capture waste for transport. In cooperation with WVT Industries of Belgium we have developed specially designed chemicals specifically to aid in mercury vapor suppression and decontamination.
Mercury Vapor Monitoring
CR Asia uses state-of-the-art equipment and experienced personnel to monitor and document mercury vapor in plant work environments. When equipment is opened during turn-around or hot work is performed, mercury vapor can be present and its concentration in air is important to selection of personal protection equipment and decontamination procedures. Several types of mercury monitors are used depending on process components.
Waste Services

CR Asia works with certified and accredited disposal companies to provide safe and transparent disposal options that meet all local regulations and environmental requirements. Inspection and Mapping
CR Asia works with Mercury Technology Services to inspect heat exchangers and other equipment for mercury deposition. Inspection methods include computational modeling, visual (borescope) and noninvasive radiography. CR Asia/MTS have extensive experience to locate and map mercury in refineries, gas plants, offshore production facilities and petrochemical plants. Both empirical and computational techniques are employed.
