MtoZ Biolabs - Model fourier-infrared-spectrum-analysis -FT-IR for Protein and Peptide Analysis Service
Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy is a powerful technique for obtaining the infrared spectra of absorption/emission in solids, liquids, or gases. When infrared radiation passes through a test sample, a part of the infrared radiation is absorbed by specific covalent bonds of functional groups, while another part of the infrared radiation directly penetrates through. The collected spectra represent the absorption and transmission of molecules, forming a molecular fingerprint for chemical identification. This also enables infrared spectroscopy to be used for various types of analysis. FT-IR spectrometers collect high-resolution spectra across a wide wavelength range simultaneously, which has significant advantages over dispersion spectrometers that can only measure peak intensities within a considerably narrow wavelength range.

FT-IR spectrometers can be used for all applications where dispersion instruments are used to improve sensitivity and speed, able to outperform infrared spectroscopy analysis methods such as dispersion or filter methods depending on its: non-destructive nature, no need for external calibration, faster speed, higher sensitivity, higher light flux, and simpler operation.

MtoZ Biolabs uses Thermo company's Nicolet series instruments to establish an FT-IR analysis platform, determining the infrared spectra of proteins and peptides in samples, and performs subsequent baseline correction, Gaussian deconvolution, second derivative fitting, ultimately determining the secondary structure information of proteins and peptides based on peak area.
