OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety

The initials OHSAS stand for "Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series". This specification has been published in Spanish by AENOR and serves as a basis for the Occupational Health and Safety Management System.

OHSAS has been designed to be compatible with the ISO 9001 (quality management systems) and ISO 14001 (environmental management systems) standards, in order to permit the integration of the quality, environmental, and occupational health and safety management systems into operations by all those organisations which wish to do so.

OHSAS 18001:1999 is perfectly compatible with the recommendations published by the International Labour Organisation (ILO).

The AENOR Occupational Health and Safety mark implies public recognition of the commitment of an organisation in achieving on-going improvement of the working conditions of its employees, through an occupational health and safety management system that complies with the requirements of that specification.
