Pipeline contractors and pipeline construction firms across North America rely on the capabilities of advanced software to assist with optimal design of pipelines and pipeline monitoring. Construction of pipelines has come under increased scrutiny of environmental protection agencies and government homeland security regulators. This has lead pipeline contractors and pipeline construction companies to look to Coler & Colantonio`s consultants for guidance on engineering and construction requirements. Soon they discover that we also offer a powerful suite of pipeline software applications that greatly improve how they are building and monitoring pipeline construction projects.

The safety of pipeline construction, design and maintenance is our priority. Pipeline inspection and pipeline integrity monitoring are much more effectively carried out with our software application. Last year, the Canadian Government’s NEB reported many environmental incidents involving pipeline failures. From their report: 39 liquid leaks were reported on NEB-regulated pipelines. Many of these leaks are associated with everyday operations involving pipeline components, such as valves, pumps and storage tanks, rather than releases from the actual pipe body. Generally, the volume from an individual leak is quite small, perhaps only a few litres; however, in 2005 more than 6 598 barrels leaked from NEB-regulated liquid pipelines. Nearly the entire volume was the result of a large leak at a pipeline terminal, where the product was contained within the company`s own facility.
