Plastic Coating
We offer a full range of coatings and linings for all requirements in terms of soil conditions and media to be transported. TheMAPEC®plastic coating provides highly effective protection against corrosion and mechanical damage. Given the many fields of service for line pipe, corrosion protection needs to be both tough and reliable. SALZGITTER MANNESMANN LINE PIPE has been involved in the development and application of active and passive pipe protection systems for decades.MAPEC®is the registered trade mark for a three-layer plastic coating. It`s a coating that offers the ultimate in reliability. AndMAPEC®has variants for even the most difficult terrain as well as operating temperatures right up to 100°C.
The standard MAPEC®plastic coating for line pipe is applied in a three-layer process to DIN 30670. The polypropylene coating to DIN 30678 offers higher thermal stability and mechanical properties. Both coatings provide optimum corrosion protection, even in severely aggressive soils, for buried line pipe. The coatings are supplied as either normal (n) or extra thick (v) layers or to customer specifications.
An integrated rock protection rib profile is also available to complement the standard coatings. The rib profile offers up to 20 percent higher impact resistance than a smooth coating. This type of coating is used to provide additional wear resistance in relining and similar processes.
Where high friction resistance is a criterion,MAPEC® can also be applied as a rough coating. Pipe with such coatings is used, for example, in offshore applications where the pipelines must be accessible.
