Pollution Prevention
PCCI`s engineers, licensed merchant marine officers, and experienced salvage officers provide pollution prevention and risk analysis for vessel, facility, and terminal operations. These services give the owner improved safety, reduced losses, operating cost control, and better regulatory compliance. Our experience includes:
Oil Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) Plans- PCCI develops and updates SPCC plans for large and small industrial facilities. PCCI field engineers perform inspections, conduct engineering analyses, and prepare upgrade recommendations and conceptual drawings to attain compliance with 40 CFR 112.7, SARA Title 111, and OPA-90.
Tanker Spill Risk Analysis- PCCI performs spill risk analysis for major oil and transportation companies. By evaluating ship operations for single or double-hulled tankers, PCCI is able to develop spill probabilities based on historical data as well as engineering assessment of collision damage and cargo outflow.
Fuel Department Operations Manual- PCCI provides comprehensive review and update of manuals addressing fueling operations at oil terminals.
Tanker Explosion Hazard- As a means of mitigating the impact on naval, maritime, and shore side operations, PCCI determined the probable effects of tanker fires, explosions and oil spills and developed suitable methods for dealing with the risks.
Navigation Risk Analysis- In conjunction with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, PCCI evaluated collision and navigation risks associated with tanker transit through environmentally sensitive areas.
Caribbean Tanker Transport and Off-Loading- By surveying tanker transit routes, transshipment storage facilities, and marine terminals in the Caribbean Sea, PCCI was able to identify significant risk locations for a major shipper of crude oil.
Vessel Damage Control Analysis- A major international oil company relied on our expertise to integrate traditional damage control procedures with the spill mitigation requirements of OPA-90.
