Post-Remediation Monitoring Services
Progress monitoring (of changes in the contamination over time) is paramount in in-situ site remediation. Migration to sensitive receptors is a major risk. Monitoring is used to track the rate of change of the contamination. Statistical methods are used to verify trends over time.
Since remediation to fit-for-use is incorporated into the Dutch Soil Protection Act, complete removal of all contaminant mass is less frequently required. Often a remediation ends in a ‘stable end situation’. Some contamination may remain behind, as long as there is no migration of contaminants.
Post remediation monitoring allows Groundwater Technology to demonstrate a stable condition on site. Should a situation change, Groundwater Technology can quickly implement adequate measures to bring the site back into compliance. Post remediation monitoring ensures that no unforeseen risks develop.
Combining statistics and our knowledge on natural soil processes we can accurately predict whether post remediation monitoring will be sufficient and eventually reduce the frequency of sampling.
