Pre-Treatment Chemical Programs
The needs of pretreatment systems can vary greatly depending on a variety of factors. Before a pretreatment chemical program is recommended, your ChemTreat field engineer will first take the time to understand all the industrial uses of your make-up water.
Treatment of your makeup water with the help of one of our chemical programs is essential for optimizing the success of any filtration or membrane system. A pretreatment program from your ChemTreat field engineer may include filter treatment, water softening, or both.
Good filter treatment for industrial reverse osmosis membranes is necessary to remove suspended solids, colloidal material, and metals that create the need for more frequent cleaning and replacement. Water softeners remove calcium and magnesium ions from makeup water. If not properly treated, these ions can serve as the basis for forming insoluble compounds that will precipitate within the system.
Filter Treatment

Water Softeners
Pretreatment water softening minimizes the potential for calcium or magnesium scale formation on filtration system membranes. The water softening chemicals required may include demineralizers, dechlorinizers, and ion exchangers.
