Commodity country Germany, resource efficiency, priority to recycling, if possible closed cycles - such keywords characterize the profound change in waste management. The traditional disposal is increasingly becoming a scrap- or recycling-economy. By the worldwide shortage of natural resources, secondary raw materials are becoming increasingly economic and gather ecological importance. Wastepaper, metals of all kinds and origins, plastics, old clothes and even wasteoil or bio-waste transform from trash to prestigious commercial and economic assets. At the same time these valuable materials are subject to the provisions of the German and European waste legislation. Secondary materials are therefore not a commodity like any other.
