Renovation
Vahanen has over 50 years of experience in structural engineering of renovation sites. Our projects have included demanding public renovation sites such as churches, office and hospital buildings, and schools, as well as old industrial properties that we have converted into residential buildings. In addition to the public sector and companies, we also serve building corporations: every year we carry out several large-scale building corporation renovation and improvement projects as a part of our Plus service range.

The renovation of old buildings typically places an emphasis on conservation objectives. High-value landmark sites require the use of historically accurate materials and techniques, and the structural engineer must have a good command of the renovation process as a whole. That is why we co-ordinate various types of technical surveys across a broad spectrum for all our renovation projects in order to determine the properties of old building materials, the toxin residues, the degree of damage and the moisture damage.
Our structural engineering services for renovation projects also always include building physics engineering to ensure that the different technical disciplines employed in the project form a functional whole.
