SHARE

Standardization at an early stage of technological development serves as a catalyst and helps avoid unprofitable investments. With its various innovation projects, DIN can be a vital partner to research and development organizations.Innovation needs more than a good idea – it also needs market success, which in turn is hard to achieve without standards. The economic benefits of standardization has been estimated as 17 billion euros a year in Germany alone.* Taking advantage of this potential, DIN helps identify, develop and bring to market innovative sectors.

It has been shown that norms and standards help translate research results into products and processes with a short time-to-market. DIN has years of experience as an R&D partner that supports innovative projects and develops standards based on research results.

Research & development phase standardization

With its special committee on "R&D Phase Standardization" (EBN) DIN provides a strategic instrument for putting research results into practice with economic success. The EBN is a platform for developing standards that allow innovative technologies to be implemented as marketable products, processes and services. See www.ebn.din.de for more information.

Innovation through standardization
The aim of the long-term project "Innovation through norms and standards (INS)" financed by the Federal Ministry for Economics and Technology is to create an innovation structure for German standardization while achieving a sustainable integration of standardization into the research process itself. The INS project is a part of the Federal Government`s extensive "High-Tech Strategy for Germany".
