Research and Development Services
Through over a decade of research and development programs, we at KCF Technologies have developed expertise in the technologies necessary to make things smart. Our research focus is leveraging that expertise to develop new technlogies and intellectual property that enable embedding intelligence into the things with which we all live and work every day. To make something smart you must give it the ability to: Sense and process information from its environment, Communicate its state and when appropriate take instructions, Trigger or take action on its own or when commanded, and Operate autonomously under its own power.
Ultimately we believe that our research mission is to create value for our customers, employees and the economy by making the things we work with smarter. We are currently focusing our research efforts in four key application areas for embedded intelligence:
- Smart industrial energy harvester powered/very low power wireless sensors
- Smart self-charging and wireless monitoring prosthetic limb technologies
- Smart underwater location and navigation sensors
- Smart active noise control technologies
We perform both government and internally funded research and technology development. Our objective is to bring all of our research efforts into a commercial outcome either directly through products or in collaboration with strategic partners.
- Since 2004, KCF has earned a Phase 2 or Phase 3 contract on every Phase 1 SBIR contract awarded to the company.
- Non-SBIR revenues account for 58% of KCF Technologies` total sales.
- KCF has achieved a commercial product outcome for every completed Phase 2 SBIR.
