More and more people live in flood prone areas. Capital investments in these areas are also steadily increasing. It is increasingly important to balance the consequences of flooding in terms of damage and casualties with the required investments for flood protection. We analyze the hydraulic loads (water levels, flow rates, waves), the strength of flood defences and the possible consequences of a flood. This analysis results in guidelines for safety standards and a plan of action to achieve the required standards.
