CEC believes that contamination should generally be treated at the site whenever possible to minimize the risks and costs associated with handling and transporting hazardous wastes. How this contamination is treated depends on the nature of the materials, site characteristics, and regulatory permitting requirements, all of which can make one remedial alternative more effective and practical than another.
As mentioned above, CEC is has performed dozens of RCRA investigations throughout the east and Midwestern United States. Several of these projects have been Environmental Indicators investigations for Fortune 500 companies in the metals, petroleum and chemicals industries. Large-scale RCRA projects with dozens of SWMUs are being conducted for industrial companies throughout the United States. Environmental Indicator issues are being addressed in West Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Indiana.
