Organics: Organic pollutants are commonly encountered by us and comprise the bulk of our experience. Fixed Earth’s microbial library is adept at remediating hydrocarbons, sulfolane, and DIPA, with promising research into a diverse array of herbicides.
Halogenated Organics
Halogenated compounds are some of the most toxic and persistent pollutants known. Several microbes in our arsenal are proven to degrade fluorinated compounds, including PFAS. Our lab is additionally researching bioremediation of PERC, dioxins, and PCBs.
Salinity
In situ remediation of salinity can be accomplished through electrokinetics; drawing ions from soil and groundwater. Fixed Earth specializes in development of additives to enhance removal of ions from soil through geochemical processes, and has strong relations with companies who deploy electrokinetic solutions.
Inorganics
Inorganic ions, such as metals dissolved in surface and groundwater, present unique remediation challenges. The microbes Fixed Earth utilizes are capable of biotransforming chromium, arsenic, and selenium into less toxic forms. Our current research in this area focuses on complex inorganic pollution, including acid drainage.
