Soil Reclamation and Bioremediation Services

SHARE
The operation of oil fields and the discharge of oil and oil-field brine causes technogenic pollution and results in the rapid loss of land productivity, the total degradation of the landscape, and also acutely impacts the environment. This leads to the destruction of the land surface and vegetation, and also soil, air and water pollution.

Soil restoration in damaged areas is called reclamation.

Reclamation can be carried out using:

1. Mechanical
2. Physical
3. Biological
methods

Preparation stage:
- Study of contaminated soil
- Performance of physical and chemical analysis
- Determining the imported earth volume

Reclamation is carried out in the following stages:

Physical reclamation:
- Cleaning top soil from petroleum residues
- Soil lime treatment and irrigation
- Partial replacement of soil in areas with excessive contamination

Chemical reclamation:
- Leaching operations using prime-grade absorbents
- Soil mineral and organic fertilisation

Biological reclamation:
- Planting perennial plants

Biotechnical reclamation:
- This method is carried out using oil degrading micro-organisms

Drill cutting treatment by bioremediation

Biological treatment is used for cleaning hydrocarbon contamination, including cleaning drill cuttings.

Bioremediation (bio-treatment) means technologies used for cleaning contamination contained in drill cuttings.

The method of bioremediation is based on the ability of natural soil micro-organisms to breakdown hydrocarbons to water and CO2.

Bioremediation is carried out in 2 stages:
- Technical
- Biological

The main parameters of biological treatment of cuttings are as follows:

- Mixture with clean soil at 1:15 proportion
- Mixture with organic compost at 1:20 proportion
- Weekly irrigation
- Adding and mixing admixtures (straw, stave)
- Adding mineral compose (sodium, phosphorus, potassium)
- Irrigation during hot months (May-September)
