Sorting Installations
Ecobulpack JSC invest in the construction of waste sorting installations. Thus we actually contribute to the reduction of quantities of waste disposed at landfills.
Currently the organization has 5 working sorting facilities situated in the big Bulgarian cities: Sofia, Sliven, Gabrovo, Ruse and Pazardjik. By the end of 2009 another 3 installations are to be completed and put into operation.
The process of separation aims to separate the recyclables (metals, glass, plastics and paper) from the non-recyclable waste, thus reducing the amount of waste that should go to landfill with up to 30 percent.
German know-how in construction and operation of sorting installations was extensively studied and then applied in the constructional engineering of our facilities. The facilities are erected on an electrified cement platform and equipped with aspiration system and air conditions. The final sorting of separate collected waste is performed in the installations.
The route of the waste includes three steps:
- Preparation of waste and feeding the conveyor through a loader, sieving out the waste to separate the heavy fractions with size from 40 to 80 mm. These fractions most commonly are of organic origin and are to be directly disposed at landfill.
- The main centre is the conveyor belt, over which the waste is spread and separated by fractions and components/types (glass, plastics, metal and paper);
- The sorted waste is pressed by specialized presses and packed in bales; then the bales are transported to the recycling plants. Biological and other waste, that is not suitable for recycling, is transported to landfills;
The sorting facilities are supplied with feed-engines, needed for their proper functioning.
