Managing stormwater is crucial to minimize the potential for flood-related damage including surface flooding, erosion, and sedimentation. At Associated Engineering, we encourage integrated approaches for managing stormwater at a basin level. The key objectives are to maintain or improve the ecological health of watersheds by helping clients manage watersheds in a holistic manner. This includes planning development in a manner that protects environmentally sensitive areas, maximizes the use of stormwater source controls (LID’s), and incorporates stormwater Best Management Practices (BMP’s). Our team of water resources engineers, hydrologists, aquatic and terrestrial biologists, planners, hydrogeologists, geomorphologists and facilitators highlight our integrated approach to watershed management.
Our strength in stormwater management results from our experience in modelling and analyzing stormwater systems combined with our successful implementation of LID’s, BMP’s, storm drain networks, diversions, floodboxes, and pump stations.
Our approach to stormwater management involves assessing a community`s needs by studying the existing environment and infrastructure, and understanding what impact future growth will have on the ecological health of the watershed. We search for and analyze strategies that alone or in combination will improve the ecological health of the watershed while facilitating managed growth and acceptance by the community.
