Brasfield & Gorrie places a priority on sustainability practices by ensuring that it spans our entire business process, from our construction practices to our people and everyday actions. In fact, Stewardship of the Environment is instilled as one of our core company values. Beyond development of extensive sustainable pre-construction and construction expertise, we have also implemented regular community litter pick-ups, green lunch-and-learns, business-wide environmentally sustainable practices, corporate recycling programs and similar initiatives.

Also, when plans for our Corporate Headquarters were developed, we established achieving Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certification as one of our design and construction goals and it became the first LEED Certified Corporate Office Building in Alabama. As a result of these efforts, our clients, our employees, our projects and our communities benefit from the positive impacts of sustainable design and construction.

Proactive Sustainability:
Brasfield & Gorrie supports LEED for the benefit of the built environment – and the preservation of our natural one. In addition, Brasfield & Gorrie has challenged every one of our Project Managers, Estimators and Field Employees to become a LEED Accredited Professional. So far over 225 employees companywide have proudly met that challenge.

In addition, Brasfield & Gorrie boasts an impressive portfolio of LEED buildings. In total, we`ve constructed over 40 sustainable facilities of ranging from tenant refits to 1.3 million sf mixed-used developments. This experience has provided us the pre-construction and construction expertise to successfully deliver economical and efficient sustainable facilities, regardless of size or scope.

Financial Benefit:
According to the United States Green Building Council, there will be $554 billion in in green construction between 2009 and 2013. For many owners, the environmental benefits of a sustainable building also translate into business advantages. Owners of green projects can expect an 8 to 9 percent decrease in operating costs, a 6.6 percent improvement on return on investment and a 7.5 percent increase in building value.
