Sustainable Energy
Sustainable energy is taking off around the world. Investments in renewables around the world topped $211 billion in 2011, according to the United Nations. Some analysts believe that all energy will ultimately come from renewable resources. In the transition towards more renewable energy, Climex offers companies the possibility to green their energy use. For example, in Europe electricity qualifies as green electricity if it is used in combination with Guarantees of Origin (GOs). These GOs can be purchased separately from electricity. Furthermore, there is not yet enough green gas to meet all demand. An alternative is to use Gold Standard VERs in combination with natural gas to compensate for the CO2 emissions.
Climex organizes auctions where companies can purchase Guarantees of Origin and (Gold Standard) VERs. In addition, we are currently developing a new innovative tool that will allow buyers and sellers of sustainable energy to connect via the Climex Sustainable Energy Gateway.
