We have employed topology optimization in the development of an exhibition stand wall, in collaboration with AM Hub. They provided us with a topology-optimized structure, which we subsequently 3D printed.

At MDT A/S, we have the capability to both generate the digital model and perform the 3D printing.

The wall was conceived as a design exercise, supported by a concrete beam in the ceiling. The final structure reveals how forces flow through the construction in relation to the weight from the upper concrete beam. The voids emerged because there was no load in those areas.

As a result, this structure has been optimized to support even distribution of weight on top, as well as local loads on various podiums.
