Transforming the Built Environment Services

We address the enormous climate challenges and both economic and technical opportunities of the built environment: Buildings represent 40% of global anthropogenic greenhouse gases and approx. 10% of global gross domestic product and 8% of all global jobs.

We boost the transitions needed to significantly cut these emissions by combining financial incentives, experiences on technologies, different building sectors, and geographic and cultural particularities.

Specifically, we address:

• Investment: we develop economic and financial models for investment in refurbishing existing buildings
• Technology: we promote technological achievements that meet climatic criteria against the backdrop of culture and climatic zone
• Market: we facilitate demand-supply connections and create new markets

Several single lighthouse projects of very mixed performance in many areas are available, but the up scaling and related environmental benefits is in many areas not yet happening. While many activities in this field are going on at a local, national and international level, this platform – among other things – will therefore apply innovative approaches and technologies to decrease time-to-market for new products and services.
