Kids Toy TruckWe are a business that operates round the clock to ensure that our customers receive the services they expect. As a result we have a vehicle fleet comprising a wide range of vehicles from large water and sludge tankers to small vans used for the routine sampling of customer taps.
We are aware that whilst we must maintain levels of service there are significant environmental impacts as our result of our company fleet. Not only do vehicles consume natural resources by way of fuels and oils but they also contribute to a reduction in air quality and impact on Climate Change Our action plan therefore seeks to address these impacts by way of a two pronged approach, firstly to reduce the annual mileage that our staff undertake and secondly to increase the fuel efficiency of our fleet.
Reducing Vehicle Mileage
We have carried out substantial work over the past few years to reduce vehicle mileage undertaken on company business. This has been achieved through a number means including; a reduction in the number of company vehicles, the use of video and teleconferencing and the optimization of operational vehicle routes. Between 2005/06 and 2007/08 vehicle mileage has been reduced by 21%
