EARN treats your old equipment in all European countries
EARN processes your old equipment in one of our own plants. Whether it needs recycling or refurbishment. A big advantage is that we offer in-house services. Since EARN is part of a large group and the treatment plants are owned by our shareholders, we have very short and efficient lines and full sight on the whole treatment process. Our shareholders regularly share their experiences, techniques and know-how, securing EARN to be part of a consistent, strong and reliable recycling management group.

If you would like to have a pan-European contract with EARN, and you have ongoing contracts with other recycling companies.

Effectuate the recycling rates
Have you ever seen how your old equipment is recycled? If not, give us a call and we are happy to arrange a visit for you and your colleagues at one of our recycling plants. You can conclude that your company is compliant with legislation. And you can see how your company is contributing to a better environment!

Technique
A recycling plant is a series of different manual and mechanical steps. Simple and advanced techniques are used to transform your old equipment into very small pieces. Separated sort by sort for instance iron, aluminium, copper, glass and plastics. These materials are considered secondary raw materials and sent to third parties that we have contracted for further treatment. Like metal smelters, plastic recyclers or incineration plants that generate electricity.

We call this ‘material recycling’. Almost all materials from your old equipment are used for the production of new equipment. The extent to which this happens, is expressed via the ‘recycling rate’. The minimum recycling rates are described in the national WEEE legislations and based on the EU WEEE Directive.

The EU WEEE Directive contains an important list of materials and components that have to be treated separately – these items may not be processed together with the rest of the equipment. This mainly concerns hazardous substances. The list of these materials is named ‘Annex 2’.

Obviously, all recycling by our own or contracted recycling plants, complies with the WEEE legislation including Annex 2.

A second life for your old equipment
When used equipment is still working well it could have a second life. For instance a project based replacement of a number of computers after a lease period of 3 years. The computers have to be cleaned and the data and software on the hard drive will be wiped. And even sometimes that is not necessary. In such case EARN can trade the equipment for you. It is an economically and environmentally interesting option. EARN offers refurbishment for large quantities of similar equipment that does still work.

In-house service
EARN can offer this service in-house since all our shareholders have refurbishment activities on their sites as well as outsourcing this activity.

Feel free to contact us if you are interested in this service. We are happy to tell you more about it.
