Water Analysis
ISO 17025-accredited laboratory Beta Analytic provides these services: (1) identify the source of nutrient contaminants (nitrates) or check the health of an aquifer; (2) stable isotope analysis (δ13C, δ17O, δ18O, δ2H); and (3) radiocarbon dating different types of water. The first step in properly evaluating a water body is to identify the source. Stable isotopic analysis of water (δ18O & δ2H) can be used to understand the formation of precipitation, which is the ultimate source of water. Groundwater aquifer, spring and glacial waters have different chemical values.
Nitrates are naturally occurring ions but they are also produced artificially on a commercial scale. ISO 17025-accredited Beta Analytic provides nutrient source tracking services (nitrate concentration and isotopic measurements) to fingerprint, source, and track nitrogen pollution in bodies of water. To gain insights on the health of a well and acquifer recharge, study the source and age of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) and dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC) found naturally in groundwater. Radiocarbon dating can be used to predict the over-pumping of the aquifer before it becomes contaminated or overexploited, see Beta Analytic's sample study here - https://www.radiocarbon.com/groundwater-carbon-dating.htm
